The Big Prune

Planned maintenance at Echline Community Woodland

Saturday 13th November 2010

On Saturday, 13th November we had our "Big Prune" to cut back the edge of the wood and also cut down branches that could split from the trunks.  The cut branches were taken to the southern edge of the wood where a large bonfire disposed of them.

It was a very successful day and a big thank you to all our volunteers, especially Guy Hamilton for bringing his chain saw and cutting and removing the larger branches.

Next Working Party

We have regular working parties at the woodland, usually on a Saturday morning at 10.00 am.  Email us to find out when our next working party is happening.

Typical tasks include litter picking, planting, tree management, weeding and general woodland and gardening work. We have tools but bring along your own if you prefer, also gloves and rubbish bags.

We now have a new strimmer and can provide training, including safety training, and safety equipment.

Any new members or anyone wishing to help is particularly welcome.

Main Work-sessions  for 2012
  • March,
  • June,
  • September
  • and a meeting/social in October!
Strimming rota

John will once again organise this. John, Huw and Peter are on the rota. Will also invite Joyce, Stuart Ridge and Ed Sharp.  Monthly strimming is again planned for April-September including work on the southern meadow in August time. Possible use of cleared and scarified strips for wildseed planting.
